| Chief instructor
Sensei Robert Carruthers 7th Dan has been practicing karate and
Martial Arts for over
35 years. Bob trained in Taekwondo and Shotokan and joined John
Smith's Bunjinkai school, before opening up his first martial arts Dojo in Cornwall
in 1973. He trained in the BKA with such teachers as Danny Conner and Roy Stanhope UKASCO In the mid Seventies Bob joined the Shobokan Scholl where he trained with founder P.A.J. Handyside. Bob then established his martial arts club in Wigan. In 2000 the school joined the KYR Bugei Renmei and began to integrate Jujutsu techniques into the style. At a presentation in Dublin Bob was awarded Fifth Dan Renshi by Master Joe Carslake and the Kiai Yamabushi Ryu senior instructors.
Bob's 6th Dan was awarded in Portugal in Aug 2006 by Jack Hogan
9th Dan Karate.
Our philosophyTo provide martial arts training in Wigan in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, developing character, self confidence and fitness.We do not compete in sport karate but concentrate on developing
each individual's skills in the club at their own pace and capability. |
